Our New Place

apartment furniture

My husband and I just moved into our new apartment and so far so good. We are still unpacking but have all the essentials unpacked and it is starting to look and feel more like home. It is certainly bigger than where we were before. We used to live in the city in a rather small one bedroom apartment. It was in a great location but for what we were paying it was nowhere near big enough. I felt like we were on top of each other all the time and that is no way to live. The kitchen there was the worst part of it as it was so small that the both of us really couldn’t be in there at the same time. We really wanted to stay in the city but for the kind of space that we wanted we had to move out to the suburbs to be able to afford it.

We now have two bedrooms and the 2nd one is almost as big as the one we used to have. Our master bedroom now is just huge. Our bed looks so tiny in there compared to how it looked before. We definitely need to buy some more furniture to fill that room out a bit more. I don’t want to put a bed in the 2nd one as it would take up too much space. I would however like to put a futon in there so I’ll have to keep my eye out for a decent one on sale. In case you were wondering our kitchen now is a lot bigger. We like to cook together but could never really do that before but now we can. Last night we made spaghetti and meatballs together and we had a blast. I think we are in the minority where we both like to cook as I know most couples it is either one or the other that does it. We basically take turns depending on what we feel like making and who is doing what on a particular night. On the nights he works late then I definitely cook. On nights when I want to go to the gym or whatever else than he does.

Speaking of food that is probably the main thing I am going to miss about the city. All the restaurants out here are all chain places and I don’t like going to most of them. That just means we will have to eat out less and cook more at home which isn’t a bad thing.
